"Ignore Tina, I've been ignoring her all my life..." - Chris Christodoulou
Today we got to chill out and lay in; firstly because we didn't have to check out of the hotel, and secondly, due to the fact we were a little bit fragile. Once we had showered and dressed, we headed up to the coast to book ourselves onto an Alcatraz tour. Unfortunately, they were fully booked until August 27th, which meant we missed out on visiting the prison. Gutted. We couldn't have booked it in advance as we didn't know what day we were going to make it to San Francisco.
We headed down towards the bay area and had lunch at a restaurant called Wipeout - we had chilli hot dogs, fish burgers and burritos (happy Annie? More food talk!) - they were very tasty and much needed after last nights partying. It was pretty evident - we royally f***ed up San Francisco last night!
After having a cheeky wander along the pier, consuming ice cream and attempting to complete some puzzles and brain teasers in a shop, we hit the local aquarium to check out the starfish, jellyfish and otters. Marc gained a LAD point as he found a man working at the aquarium with the same name as him, and it was even the correct spelling - well done Marc! The underdog is catching up! The Fisherman's Wharf was alive and full of spirit, which was refreshing to be around considering we knew we had to return to hoboville at some point before dinner - it also played home to some celebrity lookalikes, including Tom Selleck and Jay Z (again).
The updated LAD point scores are as follows:
Nick: 3
James: 4
Chris: 3
Marc: 1
We decided to come back to the hotel for a couple hours to relax, only to come across a Mexican version of Family Fortunes: Midget Special! It was amazing! Once we had re-energised, we headed back to the bay to have dinner at Bubba Gump's; a shrimp restaurant based on the film Forrest Gump.
We headed to a saloon called Red Jack's but didn't stay for more than one as the average age of the local punters was about 45. We played 'pub quiz' on a little computer in the bar and learnt a few things (based on statistics from 2001), including the average age of a woman when she has her menopause... which is 51 by the way - just a bit of information us four boys really needed to know!
We didn't think a heavy night out out was a smart idea as we knew that we had a 300 mile drive tomorrow through Yosemite National Park and onto Lake Mono. Starting are final leg towards Las Vegas, we're all starting to get a little excited.
Boom!
