Our last day in Bergen was beautiful & temp climbed to 65, the warmest so far. We decided to take advantage of the temp & take the funicular (a rail & cable based train of 3 cars) that goes up a steep path to the top of the nearest mountain. The view at the top is spectacular & we took tons of pix. Walked a wooded trail to a small lake, & around it via another trail. The area is popular with dog owners, dog walkers, & school children. A group of little ones got on mid way up & went to the playground, while some older kids went canoeing across the lake. Maybe their PE credit? Would have loved to see the dog walker get on the tram with her group of 9-10!
We hated to leave the mountain but came back down for lunch at the fish market, right on the main dock. It was my 2nd salmon lunch, but Dave’s first. So fresh & yummy, served, of course, with little potatoes. Then it was time to check into our Copenhagen flight so we did a room break & I handled that while someone else had a nap. Another bit of walking & then dinner time. The “light” supper our hotel serves (same chain both on Oslo & Bergen) was really great, as were their breakfasts. Food is really expensive here, so that was a nice benefit.
Off to Copenhagen Thursday to check out “hygge,” the thing that makes the Danes the happiest people in the world!
