Today was our travel day to Bergen via Express boat. It was actually 2 boats, as we had to change after two hrs & they hadn’t mentioned that! It was a neat boat, a hydrofoil, moving @ about 32 knots, which seemed pretty fast. Great leather seats & a snack bar onboard.

The landscape changed from very steep shorelines with a few scattered houses to lower & more dense housing as we approached Bergen. There the houses look like they are stacked up as they move up the hill. All along the way most had boat houses on the shore.

Had a nice birthday lunch, Norwegian salmon & apple cake for dessert. I told the waiter it was my birthday & he brought the cake along with a sparkler! Great fun & one of our best meals.

Met some people from the boat from Maine, also staying at our hotel. Everyone we’ve met this trip, Norwegians & others, have been nice people. A nice enhancement to a fun adventure!
