Wed 23/04/14 Lazy day today. Changed phone over to Telstra for coverage purposes before we hit remote areas and sent some postcards. Kids had their first real burst of home schooling, spending an hour on maths books. Jack was stung behind the ear by a wasp, poor thing! The girls went for a chilly swim with Ellie, which lasted approx. 15 minutes before racing into nice hot showers. Aunty Dee treated Brodie and Alexis to a manicure. Lukas and Uncle Yub had a bit of a jump-off on the jumping pillow...can you guess who puffed out first? Yub and kids had another go on the Jeeps, then B & A used some of their spending money from Poppy to hire them again to race around with their new friend, Charlotte. Dinner all together in the camp kitchen, where kids played a game which involved Jack pulling everyone off the couches by their arms...which they found hilarious. Then lots of cuddling everyone goodnight by Jack, which was a total stalling tactic to avoid bed. Very cute!
Thu 24/04/2014 Ellie & Jack visited this morning and had a giggle playing some ipod games on the top bunk for a while. Then the kids took the yabbies out "for a walk" on the grass and "patted" the scrub worms to show their "pets" (aka fishing bait) to their cousins. Yummo pastries for lunch from local bakery. We started packup today in anticipation of tomorrows departure. Kids had a great day playing with friends they have made in the park. They have traded email addresses so they can penpal.
Fri 25/04/14 Up early to finish packing. ANZAC DAY centennial today. Alan, a vietnam vet staying next to us in his huge bus, showed the kids his medals and explained he went to the dawn service. Lots of war questions ensued. Nanna & Poppy, Yub, Dee & kids left for home approx. 9.30am. We were on track to leave at 10am, but got waylayed by 30mins by an overly informative guy we have dubbed "chuckie the truckie" (didn't tell us his name). He had MANY tips about touring Oz, spoke in constant slang eg "pedalling hard at $1.20". He also decided to check our tyres and help hook on the van to "be sure we got off safely." Funny as! Thanx chuckie!

Aunty Margaret So all I need to know now is what "pedalling hard at $1.20" means. Travelling at 120 kms? Loks like the email will be kept busy as you all acquire new pen pals along the way. Enjoy Adelaide. xxxxx GAM
Deanne A great week with you guys! XX
Kaaren You guessed it Aunt; I suspect that terminology may stick with us for the trip as our driver finds it most amusing! A relaxing, fun-filled week spent with family; great time had by all! xo
