Sat 30/08/14 500 clicks to Kings Canyon today, 30oC+ hot drive. Had a food and fuel stop at the Erludunda Roadhouse. They have statues of a giant echidna and frilled neck lizard, also some 'pet' emus that seemed to spend most of their time kicking each other and making their funny drum noise. Thurs 28/08/14 Chilly overnight low of 3oC - kids wearing beanies, jumpers and gloves this morning! What happened to our warm nights! Days are still high 20's to low 30's so shouldn't complain too much. Staying at the MacDonnell Ranges Big4 out of town at the base of the ranges; great scenery! Kids are wrapt - there are two jumping pillows and several 'awesome' playgrounds. Facilities are really spacious and clean, staff are friendly and helpful - very nice park...

Tues 26/08/14 Couldn't resist an early 'quick' dip in the steaming waters of Rainbow Springs before leaving this morning - an hour and half later - meant a late brekky, late pack-up and late departure, so decided to just drive and see how far we'd get. Sun 28/08/14 Staying at the Mataranka Homestead Campgrounds. Several peacocks/hens strutting about the place. Found ourselves a nice shady site and is only 100mt walk to Rainbow Thermal Springs. Kids couldn't wait to take a dip, so after a speedy setup, we were soaking in the warm, thermal pools.
