Here we go! Left home at 1.30pm, quick stop at Toolern Vale for food, next stop Kyneton for fuel, then Wedderburn for fresh bait (worms & yabbies), arrived at Charlton at 5pm. Travelled 227kms; easy drive nice sunny 25oC. Staying at Gordon Park Camp Ground to have a practice 'one night stop' setup & packup; $15/night plus $3/kid. Nice clean facilities, good spot backing onto a creek. Lukas got the job of shovelling some horse droppings away from the campsite - he's not impressed! Took us an hour to setup then we walked over a swing bridge to the pub for a counter meal. Back by 8pm, kids wrote their journals and we were all in bed by 9pm. Soon after, a LONG & LOUD freight train rumbled past .... the kids found this most amusing after our initial fright - we hadn't noticed the elevated tracks behind the park and it sounded like it was going to roll right over us!
Big points to Mummy who had the foresight to have the emergency spew equipment ready "just in case", as Alexis won the award for first camp spewer at midnight. Thankfully only one episode, so all good. Night down to 12oC. Comfortable sleep for all.
