And then after the sun comes the rain - again!
We headed to Yr Ysgwrn this afternoon as I had slowly managed to put together pieces of various conversations to work out the significance of this farmhouse just down the road which was once the home of Hedd Wyn (farmer, soldier, poet and winner of the bard's chair at the 1917 National Eisteddfod who was killed on the first day of the Battle of Passchendaele during World War I). We were very privileged to meet his wonderful nephew Gerald and hear his stories and see the Black Chair - a fascinating piece of Welsh history that we were completely oblivious to a week ago but which was particularly timely given our recent visit to Ypres and the centenary this summer.
We then paid a further visit to Blaenau Ffestiniog and Betws y Coed to remind ourselves why we dislike this part of North Wales in the rain!
