Another solar system cycle into York then we climbed Clifford's Tower for a view out over the city before heading to St Mary's for some more Jorvik on Tour and some more fantastic Vikings including M&D's friend from yesterday who challenged them to a game of hnefatafl...a Viking board game that is NOTHING like chess! We were up early this morning to get the boat into York and headed straight for York's Chocolate Story to keep the sweet-tooths happy....apparently the white chocolate hot chocolate was amazing! More bad planning and we hadn't realised that the Jorvik Centre was closed as it was flooded - how could we have missed that?! Luckily parts of the exhibition were being displayed in various locations around the city and we managed to find some wonderful gruesome exhibi...

After a wonderful first few days in Bob visiting family we headed off for our first day just the four of us. We arrived in York to stay at a campsite just down the road from York racecourse...on the same day as York races... bad planning! After eventually setting up our pitch we took the solar system bike ride into York, cycling through the racecourse and arriving at the ice-cream boat just in time. A quick visit to the tourist information centre to make plans...

And we're off. Mad panic to pack everything we might need and tidy the house before we set off in scorching heat to sit in a traffic jam for 4 hours and wonder what on earth we are doing... and that was before the invasion of the flies!
