Left the beautiful town of Nafplio and headed to Sparta where we parked opposite the aptly called shop 300. For those of you who have not watched the film, 300 Spartan warriors fight to the death to hold back the 10,000 strong Persian army in 480 BC.
After quickly explaining this battle to the children we shifted topics and went to the Olive Oil Museum. This place was great at explaining how olives have been used throughout history - food, olive oil, fuel and for soaps.
Next stop was the harbour town of Gytheio for lunch at a local bakery before letting the kids blow off some steam on the playground.
The final leg of the day was to the world-schooling event in Plitra where we were supposed to be spending the next 5 days with other children from around the globe learning and sharing ideas at the "hub". When we realised that there weren't any children the same age as ours (no school-aged children at all so far), far too many stray dogs and only Greek-language activities tomorrow we decided to push on in the morning.
