I finally made it out of Utila and travelled in style on a gorgeous catamaran. The trip took a little under 5 hours and the entire journey was spent lazing in the sun relaxing. I've been diving with reefgliders and really loving it. The reef is in much better condition than in Utila. Tons more coral and much more fish, especially the bigger stuff like lobster, groupers and baraccuda. Yesterday was the ultimate dive, took a boat out to the edgwe of the drop-off...

Sometimes there really is no point making plans, Island life will happen and there's no option but to go along with it. I got up bright and early this morning and moved out of my apartment, taking all my belongings down to UDC to catch a chartered boat to Roatan.... great plan except the boat was cancelled late last night and nobody was able to get a message to me! Fingers crossed that the ferry is running this afternoon so I can attempt Utila-La Ceiba-Roatan ot...

This was the first group of students I taught. I've been really busy and not having much time off so as much as i've loved my time in Utila it'll be great to get back to a bit of travelling. I'm planning on leaving here on the 4th and heading accross to Roatan for a few days (thought i'd see what life is like on the posh island!)

I'm busy wiyth my first class of real students this week. As part of my internship I'm shadowing one of the more experienced instructors at UDC and seeing how he deals with all the logistics of running a course. It's turned out to be a great one to learn from, we've got 6 students, 3 of which are very nervous so it's taking a lot of time, patience and flexibility to get through all the performance objectives...... I've spent the past 2 weeks studying like crazy at an Instrutors Development Course (IDC). Lots of early mornings and very long dats as we learnt how to teach PADI style... but it all paid off, the 2 day exam finished yesterday and Utila Dive Centre has just certified 11 new instructors... No rest for the wicked though, I'm starting on some speciality courses now so i'll have lots I can teach when I get back to tropical Bristol.
