After a long bus journey and crossing the boarder into Malaysia (this time with a valid Thai visa) we arrived in Georgetown. Our hostel was in the old part of town and was really nice. We headed to the food court for dinner where we were entertained by an old Malaysian guy standing at the front of the stage singing along and doing the actions to the song the singer on the stage was singing. We decided to treat ourselves to a couple of drinks even though we were back to paying English prices. We treated ourselves to a couple of pints and after getting hassle from some random Malaysian men we headed back to our hostel.
The following day we caught a bus to Panang Hill, which seemed to take forever! When we eventually got there after taking 2 different buses we paid to go on the train up the side of the hill. When we reached the top it was cloudy and started to rain, so was not the best views, but we were entertained by a monkey tring to get food out the bin. As it started to clear up we walked round the hill and enjoyed the views over Georgetown, before getting some food and heading back. In the evening we went to Little India and had a curry, which was yummy, before getting an early night, ready for our bus journey to KL in the morning.
We reached KL about 4pm, checked into our hostel and then met up with Sam and Laura as they are in KL as well for a catch up. The following day we walked to the Botanical Gardens and then got the train around the gardens, before exploring further. They were so pretty and peaceful, even though they are in the centre of a big city. We also found a great childrens play area and had a go on the swings. We then walked to the National Monument and had a walk around before getting a taxi to go and explore the shopping centres. After walking around the vast shopping centres we headed back to our hostel to get ready. In the evening we headed to the Sky Bar in the Traders Hotel to watch the sun set behind the towers while drinking cocktails. I ten said my goodbyes to Sam and Laura and headed back to the hostel to pack and get ready for my long day of travelling ahead! I was quite excited I am finally heading to Australia!!!
