We caught a bus from Melaka to Singapore and arrived at our hostel after taking taxis from the bus station. After dumping our bags we explored the area around the hostel and grabbed some lunch in a hawker hall, I had chicken and rice and it was yummy and cheap!
We then all headed back to our hostel to get ready and dressed up for Raffles. We caught taxi's and arrived at Raffles. The hotel was beautiful and we had a look around the parts of the hotel we were able to get into. After taking a few photos of all of us dressed up we headed to the Long Bar to sample the Singapore Slings! They were very nice, so we had to stay for a few, as well as eating the peanuts and throwing the shells on the floor (a Raffles tradition). After spending quite a bit on cocktails we decided to head to another bar called 'Ink Bar'. The champagne was on offer at $99 a bottle, so it seemed like a great idea after our cocktails to order a few bottles (I blame Deb)! The champage went down very nicely and the bar was really cool, but it completely put my budget out the window, but was nice to treat ourselves on our last night of our tour and who knows when I will get the chance again to drink expensive alcohol! We decided we could not afford to stay in the bar any longer and needed to try and find a cheaper bar. After a recommendation from a local we managed to find a bar with a few live bands playing and we ended up staying out dancing the night away till 3am! A great last night of our tour!
The morning after the night before we all woke feeling a little rough and after saying goodbye to some people that were leaving a few of us caught the hop on hop off bus. We stayed on the bus for nearly the whole route, only getting off once to look at the Marina Bay Sands, and then quickly getting back on the bus when we realiseed all the shops were way out of our price range.
In the evening we headed to the Night Safari, which included a tram ride round the park, walking round the various trails, watching feeding time and the show which members of staff put on with the animals. It was quite scary at times especially when rats were running out on the paths in front of us and bats kept flying low. After leaving the hotel at 6pm we arrived back just before midnight, feeling so shattered we all headed straight to bed.
The following day I went back on the hop on hop off bus and explored a bit more of the city including the Botanical Gardens, lots of expensive houses and the main shopping area. In the evening Lee and I went and met up with Karlie and Steve for a drink down by the waterfront, our quick drink turned into quite a few, finished off by a late night McDonalds!
The following day was my last in Singapore. I checked out and as I was feeling under the weather spent most of the day just chilling in the hostel before heading to the airport to catch my unplanned flight to Phuket to meet Kate!
