Go Cubs Go!
On the first weekday of our collective non-working lives, Bethany and I headed up to the lovely city of Milwaukee to sample some of the lakeside town's offerings: namely, beer, encased meats, and mediocre baseball (though to be fair, the Cubs, and not the Brewers have been displaying the mediocre baseball this year). First we headed up to the Sprecher Brewery, where we took an informative tour (fact: ales are top fermented and lagers and are bottom-fermented - Dwight Schrute) and then proceeded to the tasting room, which is designed as a beer garden, complete with taps, beers, sausages, tables made from wooden barrels, but without sunlight). They pour some generous freebies at Sprecher, and with their average brew topping 7% alcohol, we had to spend some time in the gift shop before we headed out for the ballgame.
We met up with our favorite Milwaukee-ites, Shannon and Ryan, to watch the Cubs tangle with the Brewers at Miller Park, which is an underrated gem of a park. Good brats, lots of beer options, and you can hear Bob Uecker doing the radio call in the concourse. (Ball Four...Ball Eight!). Plus no rainouts!
Alfonso Soriano continued his practice of homering every time Bethany sees him play, and the Cubs did a pretty good impersonation of a professional baseball team and beat the Brewers.
Also, Hot Dog continued his dominance in the sausage races, edging italian sausage, polish sausage and bratwurst, with Chorizo far in the rear. Poor, poor, pobre Chorizo, his comically oversized sombrero makes him so top-heavy and non-aerodynamic, he really has no chance to win. Que Pena!
