We arrived in Nha Trang at 6am and couldn't check in to the hostel til 11 so went straight to the beach. It was warm already and Lloyd tried to get some sleep whilst Ben and Tim went straight in the sea! The waves were pretty big… about 4 foot! Jumping in them and diving over them was really fun and woke us up! If one crashed on you it threw you about and tossed you under the water. We played a bit of volleyball with the locals… who were really really good! At one point a coconut fell from a palm tree and missed a local by inches…. He picked it straight up and drunk the milk which was dripping out. Then we headed to the hostel when it was time and had a nap to make up for the bad sleep on the bus.
That night we went to a bar called Why Not which we had heard was good. The pool table was free, as they all are here, so we had a few games and a few beers. A few girls came over to speak to us… as often happens.... everyone speaks to everyone, boys and girls. They are doing basically the same route as us, and they are a good laugh, so will probably bump into them again at some point. The place got really busy very quick so we spent the night there.
Our first full day we went to Vinpearl, which is a waterpark and theme park and cost 500,000 Dong which is around £14…including the cable car over the sea to get there. We spent the morning on the water rides and wave pool which were really good and there was basically no queuing for anything. There was also a beach to go on as well. Then we went in the aquarium which was free. It was really good and had a large underwater tunnel that went in a U shape, and you stand on a conveyer belt which takes you through. There was a tank with turtles in and they swim at the top so we were stroking them which was cool.
In the afternoon we went over to the theme park side and went on a couple of rides. The best part was the toboggan which pulls you high up the mountain, then you speed down along the edge where the views looked out over the city and the ocean. You can control how fast you go so obviously we went as quickly as we could! Then it was time for the dolphin show, also free and was quite good! The dolphins did a few tricks and jumps etc…. but we have all seen better dolphin shows!
That night we watched the Chelsea game then went to a beach party at a place called the Sailing Club. It is a luxury bar on the beach front and as it was Saturday night it was full of people… from all over the world. On the beach there was a DJ and it was like being back in Ibiza… with the hot weather and banging music! This finished around 2am and then everyone headed back to Why Not bar to finish the night.
