We woke up this morning and had planned to go a waterfall at a place called Ba Ho. It is 35km away so we decided to rent 2 mopeds and ride there 2 on each…. Tim and David on one, Ben and Lloyd on the other. This was the cheapest way and cost us about £2 each… including petrol!
The hostel manager showed us on the map how to get there, which was along the coast…. With amazing views! Then around a mountain and down a few dirt tracks until we got to Ba Ho. We parked up the bikes and walked up a track seeing lots of different lizards on the way!
As we got closer we could hear the water and knew we were getting close. When we got near the track turned to large rocks with water running between, and there were local people trying to sell food and drink all along the way. On the rocks we noticed some red arrows were spray painted so followed them. There were 3 waterfalls in total, but none were as big as expected but were still really fun! We picked a spot and chilled there for a bit, sunbathing and jumping off rocks into the water below. Some locals were stretching a net out and catching lots of tiny silver fish which they will either eat or sell… whilst other locals were chilling too and having a BBQ and beers…. As it was Sunday!
We headed back climbing down the rocks when we saw three boys jumping off a large cliff, and there was a security guard there too making sure they were safe. We saw him on the way up but didn't really know why he was there?! Luckily we saw this otherwise we would have really missed out! The cliff was about 13 metres high and it was a great buzz jumping off into the fresh water below! We stayed there for a while before heading back.
On the way back we saw a 5 star hotel and thought we would get some dinner as we were all starving and hadn't eaten since breakfast! WOW!!! This place was unreal! We were taken through a large foyer and outside to some tables next to the pool…. Well, pools! There was an outdoor bar next to a huge swimming pool about half the size of a football pitch, then there were 2 infinity pools looking out to the ocean, Jacuzzis etc. We were only having lunch there but they said we can use the pools too if we wanted, and the water was like a warm bath, so nice!
The hotel in all was just amazing so we thought we would ask how much it was, just out of curiosity. It was 3 million Dong per night…. Which works out to around £90….the same sort of price you would pay for a Travelodge in London, and this was the nicest hotel any of us have ever set foot in! We had our dinner which was beautiful and was the most expensive meal we have had in Vietnam…. About £12 each including drinks!!
That night we watched the Liverpool game and Sweden vs Canada in the Olympic ice hockey final. The bar was full of Swedes and Canadians and the three times Canada scored the place erupted! The atmosphere was great and the Canadians were all going mental! We got another early night ready to chill out on the beach all the next day…
