Today we leave 4000 islands and Laos all together - it seems weird to think over two ago we were discussing our plans for Laos and it's all been a gone. It's been an a amazing part of our trip - we made some good friends who have made the trip even better, it's the first country we have travelled alone, we've seen amazing waterfalls, got drunk in a bowling alley, lost time in a bar that shows 'friends', sailed under a mountain in an 8km cave, kayaked on the Mekong, seen Irrawaddy dolphins and loved every minute! It is a country full of friendly people, amazing scenery and crazy experiences. I feel sad to say goodbye but excited to see what Cambodia has to offer!
Our day started with breakfast and a boat over to the main land, from here we took a mini bus to the boarder which went really smoothly! After adding another stamp to our passports we jumped in a second mini bus which took us to stungtreng We stopped here and grabbed a drink, before jumping on the ferry - this was good to watch as they piled tourist and locals, bikes, busses and tractors onto the small boat, we saw a bike with dogs in the back, chickens and everything else you could think off...
A short trip across the river and were back in the mini van for another 5 hours!. This was going all as planned and as we left out rest stop (at a petrol station!) we were actually ahead of schedule - this is when we had to pull over due to running out of fuel.?! After about 10 minutes in the boiling heat some one turns up on a motorbike with some fuel for us - unfortunetly the diver had drained the battery whilst trying to turn it over! So luckily the village we stopped near sold beer, unfortunately it was hot... But in that situation got beer is better than no beer! After about 30 minutes a taker came along and helped us bump the van! 45 minute break down in south east Asia, must be a record! Finally up and running we finished the journey without a hitch and arrived in Siem Reap a bit bewildered by being in a proper city again! A quick look on the Internet and a recommendation we choose to stay at temple villa. Rooms are large, clean and have aircon and it also has a pool - Sold! A quick bite to eat and we headed to bed, another good day travelling! Tomorrow we are going to have a chill and then go to see the sunset at Angkor Wat, which should be good!
