We woke up early today to get down for breakfast, which consisted of fried egg, bread and bananas. Simple but did the job. After that we jumped on the tiny mini bus again and made the 1.5 hour drive to the pier. This time the driver thought we would enjoy some music, which strangely consisted of snoop dog, some Thai dance music, linkin park, some funky 80's, five and other 90's pop! Played loudly over some bassy speakers! We then arrived at the pier, got herded onto the slow boat where the seats were nearly all full (mainly as -more- arrogant people were taking up 3 seats per person). The seats were, interesting to say the least, made up of old bus chairs and wooden benches. Guesses for which seats were 'taken up' - so we grabbed a 'comfy' bench and made it home for the next 7 hours! It took 30 minutes for my arse to go numb, which I'm not sure if this was a good thing or bad! However it was quite nice to watch the Mekong river and surrounding jungle just float past and every so often they would drop a local off at one of the small riverside villages where children watched in amazement. When we got to the port on the other side another load if travellers on the other boat were refusing to get off as it required getting a 20mile tuk tuk an everyone felt a bit ripped off as this wasn't mentioned when we booked. However after 30 minutes of waiting we finally caved and got the tuk tuk, we asked to be dropped at our guesthouse which they thought they did. However they got the wrong one and dropped us off miles away from ours so we decided to walk up the road to grab another tuk tuk - not what you want after 7 hours on the boat! Up the road we met some of the people off the trip we did as asked to jump in their tuk tuk, whilst we were waiting they asked if we wanted to meet up later for a drink. Finally after 2 days, 3 mini buses, a slow boat and 2 tuk tuks we got to our room, Which was thankfully really nice! A quick shower and a beer from the shop (less than 70p for over a pint) we made our way into town and met the others which consisted of 2 girls from Liverpool, a lad from France and 3 retirees from Canada. A quick bite to eat with them and another beer we headed out to utopia, a really chilled bar in town, unfortunately all the bars close at 11:30 except the bowling alley! So fairly well on our way we grab a tuk tuk to the alley where we sat a chatted to more people and drank a lot of vodka! Finally staying until it closed we got the tuk tuk back and went to bed!
