Becky Bravo's Adventures
Today we had a pretty full day, but it was great!! We caught the transportation to the rain forest at about 8am. It was not a very long drive, but very bumpy. My step counter on my phone actually counted the bumpy road as steps, so I logged over 20,000 steps today! Not really, but that is how bumpy the road was.
We arrived in the rain forest and started our guided hike. The hike wasn't all that hard, just a lot of stairs. And get this...it rained. In the rain forest! Can you believe that?! It rained hard too. But we were under all the trees so it did not come down hard, but we did get really wet. By the time we made it to the waterfall we were able to go swimming in, it felt good to go in some refreshing water.
Along our hike we saw quite a bit of wildlife. We saw a poisonous snake - a viper of some sort. It was a baby one and just chilling on a tree. We saw a sloth, but WAY up in the trees, and it wasn't moving. Honestly I would not have known it was a sloth unless they pointed it out. It was too far away for photos.
We saw a pretty cool lizard just chilling on a leaf, and got to watch the leaf cutter ants. There were also these bugs, I do not remember what they are called, that make so much noise, that I thought it was birds or monkeys or something. But I included a photo of that. It is big for a bug, but very small considering the noise it makes.
We saw a couple more spots with some falls, and ended our hike in a thermal pool. These are different than hot springs, but still quite warm. Very different from the very cold water we swam in at the Aguilar Blue Waterfall.
Before heading back to the main area for lunch, we went a little further and got to climb up into and see an actual tree house. Going up the steps was a bit scary, but gave us an awesome areal view of the forest.
The bus ride on the way back home was a little unbearable because most of the way was that unpaved bumpy road, and I had to pee so bad! But we made it back to the hotel safe and with no accidents. ;)
Once we got back to our resort, we got changed and headed over to the other side of the resort for our private romantic dinner, which was part of our honeymoon package. Let me tell you, this was fancy. It was at the restaurant that Jaime and I ate at our first night here, but down closer to the beach. The food was great, and we had our own waiter, and everything was so elegant. I was checking the prices of this dinner if it was not included in the honeymoon package and it was something like $200. So very cool to have it complimentary.'
Only two more nights now until we leave this paradise to come back to reality. We will be sad to see this all end, but are getting antsy to come home and see Winnie.
We have nothing planned for tomorrow or Wednesday, just relaxing and enjoying the resort amenities before we have to go.
