I got to see a Kiwi! We stopped at Mt Bruce Wildlife centre on the way out of Wellington. They are proper great birds (very very rare) much bigger than I expected and quite fluffy, I was well chuffed to see one!

The rain was absolutely awful again so we didn't get much scenery on the way up to Napier. I was disappointed as I was hoping to get to the local winery for a free tour or do a bike tour in Napier but the weather was awful so I caught up on my emails and trip planning whilst doing my laundry - fun fun fun!

Napier is famous for it's art deco due to it being rebuilt in that period after a big earthquake. It did look pretty good from the coach (he drove us round so we didn't get drenched) but nothing looks as good in the rain. Beck finally cooked my dinner (giving me a little lesson at the same time) so I got a good feed that night. We did go for a little walk to see this fountain that lights up in luminus reds, greens, pinks and oranges - quite hurrendous really but interesting to see!

Due to scheduling again we had to head out the next morning to Taupo.
