Blenheim is just a short trip up the road from Kaikoura and is the place to go if you want to go on a wine tour round the Marlborugh wine region. Due to the fantastic day I had on our previous wine tour I felt it necessary to do another one! Fear not - I didn't not buy any more cases! I just bought a couple of bottles on offer and a bubbly for Manchester Beck as her birthday was due a couple of days later. I had a lovely time as it was a nice bunch of people I got round 5 or 6 wineries as I didn't join the tour till 11.30am but they were very generous with the tastings in this area! We did stop for a nice lunch where I had a spot of the NZ lamb. It must also be noted that the Sauv's on this area were amazing - I can see why they got there reputation for this type of wine (it is not my favourite grape but it certainly tasted nice from this region!).
That evening a few of us from the tour headed out for dinner and had some lovely vennison in a rather nice restaurant. It felt expensive as it was proper good food but in actual fact if you convert it into pounds it was a good deal - just more than the cheap lunches I have been getting!!
I realised my error with the wine purchases in the morning when I had to get myself to the information centre (around 1km from the hostel) for the bus with all my bags and 4 bottles of wine. It was of course a lovely sunny day and it was beating down on me as I struggled on!!
