STATS
Departure: Nashville, Tennessee
Arrival: Nashville, Tennessee
Miles: 0.5
Travel Time: 3 minutes
Well, the KOA kicked us out today. It seems there is a Country Music Association (CMA) Festival in Nashville this week, and the campground (excuse me, “Kampground”) is over booked. We have tickets to the Grand Ole Opry tonight, so we had to make a reservation at another campground (this one is spelled correctly) in town. It’s the Two Rivers RV Park, and it’s about a quarter of a mile down the road. This was a long, grueling day of driving, I’ll tell you. But we got settled into our new place, did some laundry, got cleaned up, and went to the Grand Ole Opry.
This was our first time attending a show at the Opry, although we attempted it on our New England Color trip. I got sick that time, and we had to forgo the performance (it was a birthday celebration for Charlie Daniels, who would be there and perform). That would have been good.
This one had, among others, Kellie Pickler, Rascal Flatts, and Keith Urban. We actually stayed in Nashville to see this show—well, also to get the levelers fixed (I’ll discuss that subject tomorrow), but it is too good to miss.
Would we make it this time? Would our hero stay healthy?? Would we actually get to see the inside of the Grand Ole Opry House????
Yep.
The show was amazing. We saw country stars from 50 years ago right up to today’s most popular. Every performance was great, but I think the standout was a sister act called Lennon and Maisy (Lennon is 13, Maisy is 9). The harmonies coming from that nine-year-old were amazing. The other acts were excellent, too, even, what’s-his-name, you know, Nicole Kidman’s husband? Well, whoever he is, he wasn’t bad. (Oh yeah. Keith Urban.)
I wanna go back. You know, there’s another show on Friday night. Carrie Underwood is on that show. It’s only three more days….

Rich Are these names made up?? Kellie Pickler (never wanted to be pickled) RIckey Skaggs (skaggy?), Rascal Flatts (a rascal should be flat), Keith Urban (from the city?). DIdn't Ivan B. Swindle show up? Perhaps no one with an ordinary name like Jim Jones on the birth certificate would be allowed on the GOO stage.
Marie W. Aren't you lucky ducks!!!! I am so jealous.Stay for the next concert - I can live vicariously through your attendance.
[email protected] I was at the Grand Ole Opry about 15 years ago. They do a wonderful show. We have center front row seats. (We lucked out by stoping by in the box office the morning of) and locked out with these unbelieveable seats. We say The Oak Ridge Boys and Minnie Pearl. I'm so glad you enjoyed the show. I'm even more glad that you got the the levelers fix. Drive carefully home.
Leigh Ann Those two girls who sang together are sisters, as you mentioned, and play sisters on the tv show Nashville. On the show they are the daughters of a country music star and do a little singing here and there. Look some of their real life stuff up on youtube. Very impressive!
