Last day in Broome today :( its been lovely getting clean and doing fancy stuff like going out for nice meals and shopping. We all went out for brekkie today at Cable Beach before saying farewell to Lynne and Marianne who flew home to melbourne at lunchtime. We drove from brekkie past the old site of the crocodile farm and spotted a massive croc on the other side of the fence and then on to the deep water pier/dock to check out the fishing scene and boy was there a scene! As we walked up the long pier we could see decent sized fish coming up to the surface and diving back down. At the far end of the pier where two aboriginal women were catching little cod, we saw some giant trevally and a groper which was at least 3m long and flat and wide- incredible. The massive fish kept trying to eat the smaller fish that the women were catching, it was very entertaining! We decided to get our grocery shopping for the next four days done then come back to the pier to fish all afternoon. We went to woolies and stocked up on supplies then took them back to the hotel and gathered up fishing gear and headed back to the pier. We spent almost 4 hours fishing with barely a nibble, very frustrating however it was a beautiful sunny day with a pleasant breeze so we all just chilled out, very relaxing. Once the sun had set we met Ross and Emma and co at the base of the pier for some fish and chips for dinner which was very fresh and tasty. After dinner we said our farewells to R and E as they were staying in Broome and then heading back east to Gladstone and we are heading north. We came back to the hotel and semi-packed and crashed.
