Wow what another incredible day! Today we packed up camp and drove about 60kms to Mt Barnett to refuel and turn off towards Manning Gorge. We parked the cars and started the trek to the gorge, which began with a swim across the river to get to the track to the gorge. Plastic and polystyrene boxes were left on the riverbank so we could put our dry belongings in them and float them across. Next was a hike across rocky and hilly terrain which was a bit tricky in thongs, taking just over an hour of walking to arrive at the gorge. And boy was it worth the walk! A stunning waterfall into deep clear waters surrounded by vertical rock faces just took our breath away, and even more so when we climbed the waterfall and jumped off into the cool waters below. We swam under the fall and explored for a while, then hiked our way back to the cars to grab some lunch. Our original plan was to drive another 120kms or so but we loved the riverside camp so much we decided to stay for the night. After setting up camp we spent the afternoon swimming in the river, lying on smooth rocks and catching small fish as the sun slowly set. Once we had watched the sunset we collected firewood and prepared dinner, which was a shared spag bol which was yum especially for camping food. After a big dinner we hung out around the fire and hit the hay reasonably early.
