We had a very relaxed day starting with a lazy get up time of after 10am - very nice!
Cooked a veggie frittata in the weber BBQ for brunch and and then settled down to watch the passing river traffic - a couple of fishing boats and plenty of bird life.
Gadi played around with setting up a tarpaulin along the side of the caravan for privacy and as a wind break if needed - although in all honesty we've had superb weather hovering around 20 degrees, with blue skies and no wind.
Early afternoon we headed out to the nearby Perry Sandhills, which we visited a couple of years ago, and think are really special. The sand dunes rise up from out of the surrounding fields looking like a mini Simpson or Sahara desert. Several movies, TV commercials and music videos have been shot here and the location has also been the site of a big music festival.
Of course Cadbury had to run straight up and frolick at the top, running up and down as he did at the Lancelin sand dunes in WA.
We also saw a massive tree, it's trunk buried deep under years of sand, so that when you stand in front of it you are actually standing amongst its tree tops - weird.
We drove around the dunes and then headed back to our campsite, me to chill out with a glass of Shiraz and some cheese and olives, and Gadi decided to clean our filthy car exterior and our dusty caravan windows - what a difference. Then he went for a kayak in the golden rays of the late afternoon sun, and Cadbury decided he didn't want to go with him.
Enjoyed the last rays of sunshine and teeming bird life, well aware how precious these days of relaxing are, as our mammoth six month journey nears its end.
Night night from the banks of the Darling River xx
