Woke up freezing this morning, forgetting how cold nights can get on the Nullarbor. Tonight we will put our carpets down for added warmth on the floor and make sure we wear thermals to bed. We left our campsite at Lake Sampson just out of Kalgoorlie late morning and headed south towards Norseman. Heading further east today, we stopped in the small town of Coolgardie, once a big gold mining town and the third largest town in WA (after Perth and Fremantle). In its heyday it had a population of over 5,000 people and 700 registered mining companies.
