The airport was just across the road from my hotel, however, the hotel insisted on transporting me there. The service levels in Fiji and the people involved are certainly among the best I have experinced on my travels. I boarded the 24 seater twin propelled plan and set off on the 45 minute flight to Kadavu. Once at the tiny airport, literally a small room, I boarded a small boat with 2 others. The water was so blue and clear but after a short time we were met by another boat and it became apparent that we were not all going to the same resort. This other boat was my transport, just me. So I made the transfer and we set off along the beautiful coastline of white sandy beaches being gently kissed by the crystal clear war pacific ocean. The beaches were lined with dense vegetation. It felt so remote and so peaceful. Before long we arrived at Dive Kadavu. The resort consisted of a modest size lodge which looked like a tree house set in the tree tops, and four or five bure´s. That was it. Next to the resort and barely visable was a small village. The boat came ashore as close as possible, this was a lovely hot clear day, not like the landing I had to make at Octopus Resort in a wind and rain. So this landing was a cinch... NOT! With one leg in and one leg out the boat a small but obviously significant wave raised the boat just high enough for me to lose my footing, hop hop hop splash... I was unceremoniously dunked completely under not only the sea but the boat too! Don´t laugh! Unfortunately, I had my bag with passport, camera, all my films of my tours, ipod and phone in the bag. I was lucky to escape with just phone and ipod no longer working. So dripping wet, I was then greeted by the resort Manager. Great! He gave me lunch, told me how the resort ran and showed me to my bure, number 8 again. It turned out there was just me and an american couple staying, they were out diving when I arrived. So, I settled myself in and went off snorkelling.

Ann It sounds so idylic and romantic and peaceful Anne .... until your landing at Kadavu that is! At least the other inmates were out! I bet you livened up your little holiday group and made the resort managers' day though. Keep having fun.....Ann x Yes, I think I did make the Managers day! By the way, I´m now in Peru as I wanted to squeeze in one last trip before coming back. Trekking from Lima to Rio in Brazil over next 6 weeks. Will be home mid April.
