the drives though newzealand are much more interesting that aus, its gud coz theres quite alot to see. on the way to whitianga we stopped at a few places, we stopped at hot water beach, that was cool, you have to dig a hole in the sand to get to hot water underneath. i was impatient and stole someone elses hole, haha, unlucky! we also went wine tasting and came out two happy chappies, haha. whitianga itself is really nice, right on the sea, and a little quiet town.
me and jonny became friends with the bus driver and he took us to a hot water spa on the sly. it was class, this guy had spent 20years converting his backgarden into a hot pool haven and he dug 600ft underground to reach the thermal springs so it was all natural spring water, and boiling hot! we stayed there for over 4 hours haha, and the waiters come around the pools and in the grotto so i was sitting drinking hot chocolate and eating ciabatta in the hot pool thinkin i was mint haha.
there were no rooms left when we got to whitianga and we hadnt booked anywhere so we satyed at this womans house and ended up with a tele and our own kitchen and eveything! so we stayed there 3nights. the bus driver came banging on our door one night so we were like ok? but there was a huuuge full moon he wanted to show us, and we're pleased he did because it was stunning.
and that was whitianga!
