Only 60Km can we do it? yes we can!Having a father that is a mad Slim Dusty fan made "the pub with no beer" a must to go and see. It was a great pub about 26km west from Macksville, in Taylors Arm. Everyone will be proud to know that I even had a beer (tooheys new), yep and must say it wasn't to bad. There is a free camp spot right opposite the pub, we had planned on pulling up here for the night. But after the last night at Urunga I think the last thing James wanted was another day on the beers. So with our next stop only 75kms away we decided to push on into South West Rocks (SWR) and set up camp in the Big 4 at Trial Bay.
The next day we hit the town to see what SWR had to offer. Only 2-3km's to Horseshoe Bay, a nice little beach and a Caravan Park right there amongst it all (close to town, clubs) great spot but hard to get into (so they say). Checked out the shops then headed back to the park for a relaxing day.Our site was right in front of the jumping pillow and playground, kids what kids? This was great they spent most of the time over there.Note to self look for sites that you can see the playground from.Next day we hit the beach about a 15min walk (kids pace), came home and had lunch then we could not believe our eyes.It was Jim, Deb, Maddie & Locky (family we met at Southport, Gold Coast) pulling their van into the site next to ours, who would have thought we would run into them again. The kids were over the moon!!They were so excited to see Maddie & Locky. And for us Happy Hour just started that bit earlier. Jim and James took three goes just to get the van sitting on the jockey wheel?! (Fair go it is not as easy as it looks)
We also drove up to Trial Bay Goal, there is a camping area up there also.It is about $40 - $50 per night to camp up there. We took a drive then to Little Bay, we pulled up and there were Kangaroo's everywhere, the kids loved it.Also the ducks at Overshot Dam once again amused the kid's, and kept them busy.Playground, pool, animals and other kids and you pretty much have got two good kids, that is until it is time to go home or worse still have a bath!
Our stay at SWR was over and it was time to get back on the track. We packed up, said our goodbyes (or see you later) and were on the road again heading this time to Bonny Hills.
