Back on the road for about 1hr 30minutes before we pulled the big girl into Corindi Beach Holiday Park. This park was quite small but looked good with great views. Location, location, location so they say. After setting up camp James got talking to some fellow travellers (as he does) saying that Kangaroos come into the park in the afternoons. So telling the kids about this it was not long before we were out in search for Skippy the bush Kangaroo. We came across about 3 in the park, having a feed and a scratch, both Chels & Charli enjoyed watching them scratching there bellies.Red Rock was mentioned to us as a good place to stay.We decided on a drive to Red rock instead as it was only about 5km (north) away. Red Rock caravan park is right near the Corindi River, this is good spot for the kids to go swimming .The caravan park didn't have much appeal, so I'm glad we decided to stay at Corindi. If you drive through the caravan park its takes you out to the mouth of the Corindi River and to Little Beach. This is a great spot for snorkelling and fishing.Charli was getting right into the snorkelling.Chels is a bit freaked out by the fact that you can see the fish; she stuck to collecting shells and rocks.
There are caravan parks down here everywhere nearly every second turnoff has a park.We took a drive (south this time) to Arrawarra Headland, Mullaway these places didn't seem to appealing to us but as we headed south a bit more into Safety Beach (some beautiful people live here!) and Woolgoolga it was alot better. There is a caravan park right on the beach at Woolgoola which looks like a great spot, all shopping and night life adjacent to the park.I find the parks (kids playgrounds) and public amenities (except red rock, mosquitoes that thick that they nearly lifted the girls of the toilet seats) in NSW are alot better looked after then those in QLD?Don't know if that is how it is or just how we have been lucky enough to find it?
With Rain predicted, and seeing several previews of the new movieRango, we decided on a trip to the cinema at Coffs Harbour.James 3rd visit to a cinema in 11yrs, my 4th visit and the girls there 1ST cinema experience & I will say last (until old enough to go on their own!).They were well behaved, the movie abit to old for them(our bad) but how the hell do they get away with charging, $77 for a family of 4 with 2 drinks, popcorn & chocolate(these would keep the kids quite if needed).James decided that this was the perfect opportunity to get the tyres rotated while we were at the cinema's, so with Bob Jane in our sites James was on the phone and the car was there before I could blink.
After the movie the weather was fantastic so we picked the car up and went for a drive around Coffs, called into the Pet Porpoise Pool, there was only 10 minutes left of the show and they still wanted to charge nearly $100 for us to get in, so no Porpoise Pool.On the way home we headed to the Big Banana for a look, free entry that is more like it!There is alot of stuff here, water park, ice skating, tobogganing, cafe, puppet show, candy shop (most of these have entry fees). We decided on a chocolate coated banana with sprinkles for Chels, James had one with nuts.Chels first bite it was good second bite was the last, I must say it was abit different yet James was quite impressed with it. (who wouldn't be....its banana.... covered in chocolate...with nuts! How cool is that)
After a bit of a look around at a few of the other closer beaches and a few beers at the local Corindi beach pub, the Amble Inn, we were ready to move on. It was the morning to head off, when we were approached by the owner of Corindi Beach Holiday Park with a strange request?A photographer was here to get some photos to advertise this great park in which we were staying.Yep no worries (thinking it was the kids they were after but it was all of us!) Never mind, I thought, he will only use them if they turn out ok, so fingers crossed he got some good photos. Anyway I will know in a few weeks how it all went. And I will say that Hollywood (Chels) was in full form.It is amazing how the kids will do exactly what they are told to do by a complete stranger. So after a much delayed departure we were heading to the seaside town of Urunga just south of Coffs Harbour, hopefully to catch up with Brian F. (one of James' ex work mates.)One of the most famous pubs in Australian music history is also close in our sights as we make our way south down the coast. Mmmmm where the atmosphere is great.....which one could it be??
