The drive from Sydney to Kiama was absolutely beautiful some of the best coastal scenery yet.We actually missed a fantastic photo opportunity at Bulli, by the time we had spotted the lookout it was to hard to pull the big girl in! The view was amazing, what I could see of it.We had arrived at Kendalls on the Beach Holiday Park, what a top spot. You could see the water glistening through the cabins just in front of us.Once we got the van set up we were straight out onto the beach. This is a clean little beach in between two rocky headlands. As we looked across the water we could see the Kiama Lighthouse and Blowhole Point. This is the big attraction that has bought us here so it wasn't long before we had kids on back of the bikes and we were off to experience some of what Kiama had to offer. Kiama is quite hilly and to have to ride a bike at the lowest gear with an extra 18kg in tow can be difficult!?I found it especially challenging as half way up the first hill Charli decided to grab my arse in her hands and start talking with it "oh what a big bum I am" at this stage I was in fits of laughter and didn't think I was going to make it, but I pushed through the hands on experience and made it to top. This was another one of those "wish we had a video camera" kind of moments. Just over 2km away we had finally reached the blowhole. The kids were pretty amazed by this, letting out a big scream every time the rush of water leapt into the air. There is over 40km of paths in and around Kiama so you can experience the spectacular views of rural farmland to pristine beaches. This was a place that we wished we could have stayed longer. But with Canberra in our sights it was time to move on.Our next stop, recommend to us by Mark, (Birubi Beach Park Owner) was Nelligen Big 4 situated on the banks of the Clyde River.
Mark had given us directions but we still put Tom to the test and you will be pleased to know that he sent us up a dead end street again, curse you Tom! We eventually made it and I will say I'm glad we had stopped here.Apart from having absolutely no mobile or internet service, this park has allot to offer.Having a boat ramp situated in the park and many of the sites with pit fires you get that real camping feeling and experience.Mind you we were inside with the heater on but you get the picture. Having the jumping pillow within full view and most of the camp grounds meant you could see the kids but not hear them, the way it should be I reckon! They had made plenty of friends in our short stay, with nearly two full days spent bouncing, running or riding from one end of the park to the other.A short half day tour back to Batemans Bay revealed another very tidy and busy little seaside town which we have gotten used to seeing on our travels.
It became very clear to us after our first night in Nelligen that we were well out of our comfort zone in relation to the change in weather brought about by our southerly location!Meaning Christ it was getting cold!!With our path leading us upwards into the nation's capital and toward Australia's alpine regions this was something we had been both been wondering about? Mainly how we would handle this sudden cold shock to our dainty North Queensland asses!Well there was only one way to find out."To infinity and beyond".......or just Canberra tomorrow for a start!
