This is a one off entry in praise of two things we encountered on the road. First, FREE CAR PARKING. We have paid next to nothing for car parking throughout NZ irrespective of whether we park in a national park, overlooking a stunning view or a city centre shopping area. Secondly and more fundamentally PUBLIC TOILETS. Again, with no exceptions wherever we have stopped the toilets have been at no cost, graffiti free and clean. Forgive me here but I must speak in praise of the Execuloo in Picton, without doubt the most amazing wc I have ever had the pleasure of using. It spoke to me, played music to me, hoped I’d had a pleasant experience - it was like something from the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy!!! Loved it.
Just a bit of a rant to which I’d add the general lack of litter and general thought for the environment by New Zealanders. Lots of food for thought back home!!
