Navigating our way to gas bottle refill sites and filling up with fuel just before returning the Van was a little tricky given that we had got used to country roads and no time pressure. Gave away what little food we had left at the campsite and made a donation of the other bits and pieces to a homeless project. The handover was painless and the taxi swiftly dropped us at the terminal in Auckland’s CBD and within 15 minutes we were walking into our hotel in Devonport right opposite where the ferry came in. An historic property it will be a good base for the next couple of nights.
We walked up to the lookout point Mt Victoria which gave incredible 360 degree views. Had a light lunch and homemade lemonade and now going to have a nap , we will eat in the hotel tonight before a busy day tomorrow which will start with us sailing in Auckland Harbour on an America’s Cup Yacht, can’t wait.
Andrew had his hair cut in the oldest barbers shop in NZ a rather radical cut, but looks good.
