Trip of a Lifetime
9/2/06
Left at 8.30am to a place near to Rotarua as some of our group were going zorbing, which is where they roll you down a hill in a ball, it didn't look that amazing. Then we headed next door wheresome people were going to watch some sheep shearing. We sat outside in the sun with some of our group. At about 10.30am wejumped on the coach to head to Waitomo.
We arrived in Waitomo about 1.30pm as we were going blackwater rafting at 3.30pm. We got picked up and signed in at the reception. We then went and put our gear on which consisted of a wetsuit, juacket, socks, gum boots and a helmet with a light on it. Believe me we looked really silly butit was all needed. Next weheaded of in the mini bus to a place near the end off the caves where we had to get a rubber ring that fit our bums. we then did practice jumps into the water to makesure the ring was ok. Next we headed into the caves. There was alot of walking involved through the water and on rocks and parts of it we just cruised down the water in our rings. When we got to some waterfalls, not very high ones, we had to jum backwards with the rings attached to our bums, it was funny but cool fun. We got to see gloworms in the dar, it was so cool. Near the end we had to make our own way out following the glowworms light not our own. It was intersting but hard work. I eventually got out and then we headed back to get changed and have some hot soup and a bagel.
When we got back to our YHA we went straight for dinner.
After dinner we went to sleep as we were so shattered and I was aching all over.
