Trip of a Lifetime
29/1/06
Today we woke up at 7.30am to leave Christchurch about 8.45am. We did a little tour of Christchurch and it so reminded me of England. I guess it was based on an English town. We spent about an hour in the centre and then headed South. On the way we stopped at a place called Geraldine, where they have the largest homemade jersey, and believe me it is so big that it is in the Guiness Book of Records. Our next stop was Lake Tekapo, and look at the picture above it looks so beautiful, this was how most of the South Island was. All these lakes are glacial lakes and so they all have that blue colour too them. The next lake we stopped at was Lake Pukaki where you can see the tallest mountain in New Zealand from, it is called Mount Cook, We then headed to Lake Oahu.
When we arrived at the lodge the view was the greatest but we also had that view from our room, it was gorgeous. After dinner we sat out on the deck and chatted to our group and got to know them a bit better. We then went back to our room and packed our day sacks for the next day as we were going to be spending next night on a boat
