We moved to Hervey bay and arranged to meet Paul and Toby again after settling into our new campsite. We arranged to have dinner with them that night, so we bought loads of fish and french bread and then took a nice walk down the pier and back.
Toby had this little kiddies tractor and pedalled it everywhere we went. Every now and then he'd stop and say 'the engines broken', take the front off and pretend to fix it lol. If Ant could have fitted, he'd probably have had a go!
Our fish dinner was prawns, emporer fish, scallops and bugs. All were lovely, especially the bugs. They sound hideous, but are like giant prawns which are just very cheap, because of the name. We ate far too much and rolled back to our van so that Paul could get Toby off to sleep.
We took a wonder around Hervey bay the next day and posted some parcels back home. The place is really nice and one of our favourites yet.
The next morning we walked to the Harbour and went on a Whale watching trip with a company called Awesome. At the beginning I thought we wouldn't get to see anything, because most of the people on the boat were hanging over the right hand side and everytime there were even the tiniest glint of a whale, the driver would turn the boat round the other way. I was pretty close to asking him to stop when a group of about 3 Whales started to go underneath the boat and swim around us! Amazing. At one point there was just a tail poking up and the driver said that it was a mother whale feeding her baby. You could hear it singing away too - ahhhh!
We got some cool photos and I especially like the video clip with an American woman shouting over 'breach baby breach!' lol... they are well dramatic and I'm not sure what she was expecting it to do, because it was already 'breaching baby'.
Anyways, it was an excellent after and we rounded it off with a nice portion of fish and chips. Sweet.
