The night passed without police or pikies and we got up at 6 again for breakfast to be away by 7. People are very keen.. there are quite a few who have done overlanding before so they are up well before breakfast and packed up before shane and I even surface! I've noticed a lot of them tell stories "oh, when I was in Bolivia/Ecuador/Nigeria..." It reminds me of someone... anyway I'm sure I will become like them by the time we are home so I apologise in advance for the boring stories I will tell.
We drove toward Dresden then turned south over the Czech border. We had expected to be stopped and have our passports stamped even though they are part of the EU here... but it turned out we didn't even see the border... all of a sudden things started looking a bit more soviet and there was Czech signs. We drove along beside a river (Vlatva?) and into Prague at about 6:30. The campsite we had to get to was on the other side of the city, so we just drove straight through the middle of town! The looks on peoples faces as they see the orange truck are hilarious. We saw more than one person take a photo of us. Eventually we reached the campsite by the river, and treated ourselves to a hot shower.. bliss after 3 days on the road...
Next day was a full day in Prague. Slept in this morning a bit and headed into town with a few others on the tram. We wandered up to the castle then down the hill to the Charles Bridge. Around the old town a bit then stopped for lunch at a nice resturant which ended up being more expensive than we thought.. ah well it's cheap food for us for a while now. There were easter markets in the old town square where they had rabbit steeplechase! Also we noticed in Germany and Czech a lot of trees have painted eggs hanging on trees outside the houses and all over the cities. Beautiful sunny weather! Feel hot for the first time in ages...We had to go back to camp because Shane was on cook duty tonight..
