We drove all day yesterday to reach Vienna, and today we had a full day in the city. We spent most of the day with Russell and Heather (who are from Warrnambool in Victoria). We basically wandered around the city from spire to dome to spire, seeing the Stephensdom and several other churches. It was easter saturday so many of the monuments inside were covered with purple cloth and I assume they will be removed on sunday. We also walked all around the Hofburg (?) but didn't go inside. We caught the train out to the Schönbrunner Palace and walked around the beautiful gardens (which were free entry). Very sunny and hot day - was forecast to be 23 and it felt warm. We saw red and black squirrels in the woods.. they ran right up to us to see if we had any food for them. It was my turn to be on cook duty so we had to head back early.
