Ko Samui
After a 2 hour boat trip & Anne-Marie filling up 3 sick bags we made it to Ko Samui. We stayed with Gaz & Jane Douglas, who are from St.Austell. They were both amazing, it was a cheap 3 night stay.
The night we went to the street market. They shut 2 roads which cross. 1 road is full of Thai tat where our bartering skills were on form & the other was full of incredible street food where you could pick up a meal for a quid! Also could try crocodile, buffalo and all sorts of weird and wonderful things including sheep testicles and bugs! They gave us a tour of the island on a motorbike they also sorted for 3 pounds a day. Each night we went to Molly's bar. We were given the keyboard and the mouse and were in control of the music for the bar. The bar tender was a ladyboy, one of the nicest and funniest people we met who loved to shout "come in my chocolate man, you are my destiny" to any black man that walked past. Another one of her quotes was " promotion! - free breakfast after you stay with me" ( a bit ruder than that but Grans reading!)
The second day we road our Ped up the mountain with unbelievable views, the roads were so fun to ride! Steven we now appreciate and understand your passion for videos and pictures of roads, because we have experienced some amazing rides up and down mountains. We seen the big Buddha which is beautiful and believe it or not -big! We stopped of at a little fisherman's village which was beautiful and reminded me of my daddy! Then we stopped of for drinks on the beach.
The third day we toured the island again, going to a waterfall which was great fun, both jumping in from the rocks into the ice cold water. Jake tried to climb up to a higher point to jump in. Getting a fair way up before slipping and sliding down the rocks into the water. We also fed elephants there including a baby one so I was well made up. We then rode up the mountain again to an infinity pool which overlook the island. We haven't quite seen anything like this yet! We enjoyed the rest of there afternoon at the pool taking in the views. When we rode back down the mountain Gaz took us to a little spot where our friends got engaged earlier last year, we sat and watched the sunset which was unbelievable. We haven't seen one that amazing EVER! Then it was time for home, stopping off at there local Thai restaurant for tea and heading back to their home where we enjoyed an evening of too many drinks and our first experience of the Thais black cock! Which is a disgusting shot that everyone has to do when they come to Thailand (never again!)
We've loved our time at Samui which was very much down to Gaz & Jane who were brilliant and made us feel very much at home. But it's now time to take a short boat trip over to Ko Phangan where we will see the new year in ☺️
