We arrived into Surfers Paradise with sunshine. The hostel courtesy van picked us up at the coach park which was good. Our accommodation was nice, we booked a 6 bed dorm. We went down to the main strip to see what the fuss was about. Surfers Paradise it may be but not to my taste. Too many high rise hotels and buildings right onto the beach front. The beach however was lovely, shame about the view. It was more of a party party place ( reminded me of Airlie Beach), not a true traveller spot. The weather turned bad the next day and once again we were finding places to hide from the rain.

This cyclone was really beginning to bug me. The highlight was meeting up with Emma Young from YOS. It was great to catch up on the gossip and to hear how the YOT was running after the admin change around. We went out that night and had a few drinks, even though we all had to be up early the next morning. I arranged to catch the bus to Byron Bay at 10am the next morning. Hopefully the weather will be good.
