So, it's been too long since I updated you guys on what's happening. Here goes, I will try and remember the best I can.
On Wednesday 11th June- I travelled back from Berwick as much as I didn't want to get back into London life. That morning I received a call from my agency saying they had a position available for me to start on Friday so after that I was a little more willing to head back because I could see the dollar signs in my eyes. At 11:20am jumped in the bus after saying good bye to my now second family and arrived in London at 7:50pm. When I arrived home I meet Katie, Bec's friend from Australia who will be staying with us for a week or so. We all went out to Walkabout at Shepherd's Bush to see the second State of Origin game but unfortunately we didn't get our butts into gear until late and we missed the game. Better luck next time NSW.
Thursday 12th June - I had an appointment with Job centre (like our centrelink) to received an NI number, (like our tax number). That was very painful as waited an hour over my appointment time because they were running late. I checked out the Camden Town Markets but lucky I didn't find anything to buy
Friday 13th June - STARTED MY NEW JOB. I am working at Gordon & Co real estate doing reception and helping out with Block management. The hours are from Monday to Friday 9:00am to 6:00pm. The best part of the job is I get to walk to work which means exercise which I badly need the Heathrow hump is taking over plus saving on transport (which is only £9 per weeks on the bus but it all adds up). The office is only small with 5 other people and they are all very lovely and the atmosphere is good. But the atmosphere outside is a bit depressing. We are on the root of The Big Bus company Sight seeing tour and I always look up at the people on the bus on their holiday looking all happy and at least one people every hours walks past with a suitcase or backpacks coming from the train station. Makes me think I want to be doing that not sitting in an office.
The work I am doing is a bit confusing as it is block management and they seem to have odd numbers for the blocks and the legal works are hard to understand. The work is a bit slow at time but it has it busy moments as well. I have got to go on site to a few properties and deliver so stuff and the other day I had to take the tube to Hammersmith, South Kensington and Notting Hill Gate to pick up some keys from other realestates. That was great to get out of the office. I am also doing simple work like paying invoices, writing cheques, folding letters and filing, you know all the boring stuff. I am writing this blog on Friday 27th June, 2008 so been here for 2 weeks and 1 day.
Apart from work there isn't really anything else to report. I have been a really good girl and didn't go out weekend before last and the weekend just went we went to Ministry of Sound but didn't drink and Saturday just had a night in. Also something I am very proud about is the first week of work (last week) I didn't spend a single cent on anything from Monday to Friday, not even on food I made my lunch every day from home and walked so no transport cost.
Over the past few weeks Minya, Bec and Me have been discussing moving out of London to Travel as we all aren't 100% happy with London and it is too expensive. We handed our notice to the real estate yesterday and we are moving out. Plans are not yet final but probably work up until July 18th and jump on a top deck tour around Europe. Once plans are set I will let you all know.
Anyway I am writing this at work so better get back to it.
