A very early start and some cloudy and slightly disappointing views of Machu Picchu from the sungate. As we made our way down we got more glimpses of M.P and by the time we finally arrived the clouds had cleared! All the effort and hard work and trekking was definitely worth it! Today I've woken up with no voice! Which makes the 16 km walk a quiet one! We walked together as a group, a little slower than expected but then we are all recovering from yesterday. Today was more enjoyable than we expected with some lovely views to keep us motivated. An early night ready for Machu Picchu tomorrow,,

Day 2 - 12 km - 5 hours walking uphill and 2 hours walking downhill Me and Ang walked together using photo opportunities for plenty of stops (apparently 5 months of a travellers lifestyle sitting on buses eating crisps and copious amounts of alcohol isn't the best way to train for the hardest 4 day trek!) We were both proud to make it to the highest point of the trail - 4215 m above sea level! And thankful to eventually make it to camp!

Early pick up and a stop off at Ollantaytambo for a pancake breakfast (for motivation). Bus to KM 82 - the official start location of day 1 of the inca trail. It'd be fair to say day 1 was hard at times but generally ok as an 11km walk goes. We were both astounded at our porters carrying 25kgs each, and jogging by to set up and cook our lunches, teas and pitch our tents! How they managed to cook some of the best Peruvian food we've eaten on a two ring gas stov...
