Well we have decided that we haven't done any extreme sports in a while so ... let's try hand gliding from a 520m mountain and landing on the beach! All sounds simple until we get to the top and come to learn it's actually what looks like an old shed roof that we have to run off! After not much sleep we went visited Christ the redeemer. It was absolutely huge! We then got the cable car up to the top of Sugar Loaf. The views from both were stunning and it was great to see a different side to Rio rather than the carnival, party-ness!

Copacabana beach! As expected on a hot day in the middle of the carnival it was packed! I managed about half an hour before a little boy fell on top of me, covering me in sand, as he was flying his kite. I gave in and spent the pm by our hotel pool but Ang enjoyed her time there. We visited a favella via motorbike! A few holding of breathe holding moments and we both held on very tightly! We visited an artist studio and Ang brought a lovely painting (we are taking bets whether it will get home in one piece!!) Some teenage boys played us some music on their home made drum kit as a little boy sambaed away! We got a water taxi to the very beautiful Lopez Mendes beach where we had some time sunbathing and Ang also did some body boarding! We got to Rio in the early evening and found our bearings near the hotel.
