Wow!!!! What a week!!! We have finally made our way into QLD and we finally have a niece!! This is the story of our past 2 weeks...
...It all began as we were packing up the site at Tweed Heads. We were running late and I got a message from Megan saying that she was being induced. OMG!!! So obviously I could no longer help Andy and just stood there saying "OMG, it's happening. I can't believe it's actually happening!" Andy did the right thing and just kept packing up around me. After a quick (very quick) phone call to the mother-to-be, I pulled myself together and got on with the packing. We finally got on the road and about 1 hour later we pulled into our new caravan park. And what a park it was!!
Straight away we new we had hit the jackpot! Beautiful sites, great amenties and an awesome pool area with spa, water slide and bar where we can order drinks and food...that we can take into the spa! Champagne in the spa...bliss!
Anyway...we were on edge all day, getting messages from Ross saying that the baby was on it's way. We went to bed and just as we were about to drift off to sleep, Andy's phone rang!! It was Ross with news that Megan had given to birth to a beautiful (and tiny) girl. They were both doing great! We were so happy and couldn't wait to get back to Melbourne to meet our niece and congratulate her parents.
We went to Movie World the next day, a great way to celebrate a birth of Charlotte Lee!! We had a fabulous day, seeing the shows we wanted to see, enjoying all the rides and eating ice-cream and hot dogs (not at the same time). We enjoyed walking through the park and just doing what we wanted to do. As it wasn't school holidays, the park wasn't as packed as it could have been. The longest we had to wait was 30 mins for the Superman ride...well worth it! That was our favourite ride. I saw two of my students at Movie World which was fabulous! I was so good to see them and have a chat. We hit the shops and bought some clothes for a few babies we know!
Sea World was the next day and because of our VIP pass we went straight to the front of the line and got straight in. The first thing I needed was a cuppa. Andy says I turn into the Hulk if I don't have a cuppa. :) Again we chose the shows that we wanted to see and semi-planned our day around them. We saw the penguins, dolphins, seals, sting rays, polar bears and more! The jet ski show was pretty awesome, sitting in the sun made it even better. Again we went on the rides. We even went on the jet ski ride twice! It was the best one. By the end of the day we were exhausted and I slept the whole way home.
The days just got more and more exciting! We were off to Melbourne! We put Charli in the kennels for the week and put the car and van in storage. We decided to get to the airport early and have some lunch. As we were relaxing with a beverage we heard that our 4:40pm flight was delayed 30 mins. Okay, that was annoying but fine. 30 mins later it was delayed another 30 mins and then the flight was cancelled! boo! That meant that we needed to be re-booked onto a 9:50pm flight which was ALSO delayed. We finally got onto the flight and at about 12am we landed in Melbourne. Another taxi ride and we were home. Weird, but home.
MELBOURNE: Melbourne = friends, family and baby!!!
We had a great week in Melbourne. It was non-stop as we caught up with friends (Bridie's birthday, Shell's pre-baby shower, Andy's boozy night out, dinner with good friends) and family (Perkins, Webbers and McMullans) and I even got an avo in at school! The main reason we went back was to meet the beautiful Charlotte Lee. We spent most of our time there...talking to Megan and Ross and caring for Charlotte. She is so tiny and gorgeous!! We had many hugs with her which we loved!!!
I could go on and on about our trip to Melbourne because we did so much, but most people who read this are our friends and family, who we saw when we were back so yeah...not going to go into it. But we loved it and appreciate all the loving messages and emails from everyone...and we wish we could have caught up with more people!
BACK AT QLD:
The day we got back we didn't have any delays and as soon as we flew into Coolangatta we picked up the van, car and Charli and began to relax back into our life that we have grown to love. As much as we loved our trip back to Melbourne, it made both of us realise how much we are enjoying our trip!! We have nothing planned for the next few days, just chilling and getting Charli back into the swing of things.
Off to Tin Can Bay on Sunday and then continuing up north! I've booked everywhere up to Cooktown where we're meeting up with my Aunty Kaye and Shain which we're looking forward to!
Hope everyone's well.
