Ben, our walking tour guide. It is no coincidence he is dressed like Where's Wally. Apparently all guides wear the shirt but he actually looks like Wally!!! I bet his parents are despairing of him. Cemetery on a hill in the middle of the city. Actually there are three cemeteries in this space. The names of occupants demonstrate the diversity of the city with it numerous immigrants from England, Italy, Spain & Germany. So many English settled here in the 19th century that numerous places in the city are named after Queen Victoria, including a funicular.

Valparaiso is a city of firsts in Latin America. It had the first bank, the first fire station & brigade ( known as the American brigade although staffed by 21 English volunteers & 3 Chilean as the water pump was donated by an American on condition the brigade be named after his country), the first Lutheran church & this church, the first Lutheran/Protestant church with a spire & cross.
