Bangkok airport ended up a lot less hectic than we had imagined, and we easily caught a taxi to Khao San Road, the main tourist area of Bangkok, for a reasonable price. Despite being completely disorganised and not having any accommodation booked we headed to somewhere that had previously been recommended to us and although the web had said it was fully booked we got a room. It is pretty much a hotel with free breakfast and air con, so we're living it up for a bit and enjoying how cheap Thailand is, which will hopefully recover some of the budget that we went over in Africa! We ate for 40p tonight!
The first afternoon we explored Khao San Road while getting used to the humidity and the new culture. We also find skype on the hotel roof so it was nice to catch up with a few people before an early night to recover from only having about 2 hours the night before on the plane!
Today we again spent lots of time on the internet researching what we were going to do for the rest of our time in Asia, and booked a dive course, travel, accommodation and a visa for Vietnam. We then took a tuk tuk (about 10p an hour) which is a 3 wheel motorbike with 2 backseats that fly around the streets of bangkok with scared tourists on the back as they always look moments away from crashing! We survived though and visited some temples, the giant golden Buddha, the lucky Buddha and lots of tailors and jewellery shops so that our driver could get free gas for his tuk tuk if we stayed long enough! We did get shown out of one tailors though as we clearly werent interested!
We ate another cheap supper of pad thai of the street stalls again while it rained!
