After our 6 day anticipation inducing stay at Khao Lak we started our 4 day, 4 night live-aboard dive trip to the Similan Islands, Richelleui Rock and Koh Bon and Koh Tachai. After much research (mostly by Alex!) we had chosen Khao Lak Scuba Adventures to sail us round. On arriving we saw a guy who we had met at Crystal Dive in Koh Tao who turned out to be our Divemaster for this trip so was nice to know we would be diving with a familiar face. We were joined by two Americans Dave and Angie who were good fun and then we were off. The 2 potential highlights of the trip were Whale sharks and Manta Rays. The 4 days were pretty much as follows: woken up at 6:30, toast for breakfast, 1st dive at 7, full breakfast, chill till 2nd dive at 11, lunch, chill till 15:30 dive, afternoon tea, chill till night dive at 19:30, dinner, bed, start over! This format worked pretty well for us 2 as diving, eating and chilling are all favourite hobbies of ours! There were some amazing dive sites, all with something different to offer. Alex contracted some weird lergie where her stomach went all blotchy around the 3rd dive of the day along with feeling strange which no-one could figure out but she survived! Fortunately Dave had a waterproof camera so check out many of the amazing sealife we saw in the photo albums. The highlights being a sea-horse, loads of maray eels, frog fish, sea snakes, nudibranks, lion fish, stone fish. Unfortunately the picture of the whale shark was from a previous trip. We will find whale sharks and manta rays somewhere!
