We had planned to fly from Siem Reap to Vientiane in Laos but after finding out the flight was $142 we though up a plan B! A bus to Bangkok and then a train from Bangkok up to Vientiane. Whilst this trip is taking longer it is only costing $30 - nice! The bus to the Thai border was not quite as nice as hoped! Legroom was defiantly Asian sized and the air conditioning involved opening all the windows and the door! It all improved when we got back to Thailand as we changed to a new bus that was altogether better! We are beginning to think of Thailand, Bangkok particularly as our home having passed through a few times now!
The D&D Inn, our usual haunt in Bangkok, was fully booked so we went for literally the next option down the road which was cheap if nothing else! We had Pad Thai from the street vendors for dinner 15 Baht each, 70 Baht=ã1. We then organised our trip to the floating markets and then onto Kanchanaburià(home of the Bridge over the the River Kwai amongst other things!). We plan to spend a few days there before heading up to Laos by train.
We have organised to spend a couple of days at an elephant sanctuary where we get to work with the elephants and ride them and also 2 days doing a Gibbon Experience where we live in the canopy of the Jungle and move around using cables-looking forward to them both!
