After being dropped off for all we could fathom in the middle of some Singapore suburb by our bus to KL we asked directions to the nearest MRT (Mass Rapid Transit - the tube!) and then followed our directions to our hostel. Many hostels had been booked up by the time we had got round to it so we ended up in a pleasant if slightly crowded 30 bed doom! We spent the first couple of days touring shopping malls and Orchard Road for a replacement camera and iPod and waiting for our Christmas day out to Raffles. Unfortunately on Christmas morning Alex was not feeling well. We decided to take the MRT to make advantage of the air conditioning but after 1 stop where we needed to change, the train we needed was not running due to a problem further up the line so we ended up walking further! This pretty much broke Alex who managed just a couple of the starters before being unable to eat anything else. Definitive proof she was seriously unwell for all those that know her! I tried my best to eat our share of the quality food but the quantity eventually slowed me too! There was nibbles, a selection of hot and cold starters,4 roasts, around 12 other mains, puddings and cheese.We headed back to the hostel and Alex spent the rest of the day in bed. I spent the rest of the day getting to know my new gadgets!

We did a free bus tour of the Christmas lights on Orchard road and around which was short but sweet.
