The aftermath of St. Paddy's day has been a little rough. I did go out with some of the girls in the hostel even though I knew I would have to wake up at 630am for volunteering this morning. St. Paddy's isn't that big here but there are enough backpackers that do celebrate that the few Irish style pubs had live bands and events. It was fun to dress up and dance. Not nearly as insane as home but I dunno if my liver could handle topping last years shenanigans.
Anyways at the sanctuary today it seems the animals know how tired I am. While cleaning , first a possum pops out and stares at me. I ask if it might bite (a reasonable question in my mind) and One of the keepers kind of giggled at me. Then whole scrubbing koala trees, a huntsman was chilling where I needed to be. This thing was bigger than my hand, so I calmly ask if it is dangerous and what I should do. This receives another giggle as one of the keeper hands me a twig and calls it my spider chasing wand. Finally while moving perches around a frog jumped out. This one I jump laugh and say "oh a frog". A keeper immediately runs over and says. " That's poisonous!" Of course.....
To make up for it I did get to walk holly the wombat then watch Phil the wombat chase an exercise ball and pop it (the keepers were super excited to see this). Video will be uploaded
