Well, our time in Darwin is finally coming to an end after almost 6 weeks! We've had such a great time experiencing the atomosphere of the territory again both as a tourist and 'sort of' resident. Staying at the Cook's house has been such a blessing for us to re-organize our setup, clean, explore, dine out and earn a bit of extra cash for the next chapter. We have both enjoyed the casual work during this time and who knows, maybe we might even come back again?? During the time here, Darwin has hosted the V8 Supercars, The 'Beer Can' regatta and Territory Day, which meant a night of fireworks going off everywhere. Even the Cook's dog was scared enough to try to escape and got caught in the fence... poor thing.
We've enjoyed sunset dinners with the nieces & nephews, Richard & Monika, Stephen & Tylea (newly married!) and Katie & Sarah, and a lovely meal at the Nyhuis's as well. This week we have finished up with exploring Litchfield Park - we used to go there when there were no proper roads or signs and now it is a very popular tourist destination. We had a lovely day exploring the waterfalls and swimming holes - I'm even brave enough to swim out alone in that deep, dark water where I can't see what's underneath, to enjoy the waterfalls up close!! Mind you, the water was pretty 'fresh'! We even found a couple of 4WD water crossings on the way to whet our appetitie for the Gibb River road! We plan to experience the 'deckchair' cinema and our favourite place, dining on the wharf before we leave.
Next stop.....Katherine - to meet up with our friends, Sheryl & Royce and then on to Kununurra.

Remko and Lieneke Hi Alf and Veronica, About 1 year ago we were in Litchfield! :) Did you see the big golden spiders near the Wangi Falls? It's so nice to read your story and see the pictures. Looks like you are enjoying yourselfs! We are looking forward to your next adventure. Safe travels. Love, Remko and Lieneke
